Poplar Roads Closed After Roof Cladding Blown Off Building

No injuries this afternoon after a large piece of roof cladding was blown off a building in high winds.

The very loud bang of the cladding hitting the ground initially led to wild reports of a shooting near All Saints DLR. No shooting. (And no fire either.)

London Fire Brigade hydraulic platform being lowered.

East India Dock Road at its junction with Chrisp Street was closed to pedestrians, vehicles and the railway line closed to trains as there was a risk that another piece of cladding could fall off.

Red dashed circle shows where cladding was blown off roof.

Anyone being hit by that would be killed, or at the very least have their day ruined.
