In recent weeks there has been a rise in cases of Covid-19 across London with the highest number of positive test results among people aged 20-29.
300% increase
In June, there were 37 cases of Covid-19 recorded in Tower Hamlets and 131 cases in August, an approximate increase of 300%.
To say this trend is extremely worrying is an understatement.
We all need to take personal responsibility to make sure this trend is reversed. Nobody wants another lockdown.
Official advice is as below.
- Wash your hands regularly, for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water is not available, then use hand sanitiser
- Keep a safe distance from other people outside your household (two metres where possible)
- Wear a face covering on public transport, in shops and other enclosed areas, or anywhere it is difficult to socially distance.
- Book a free coronavirus test now if you have any symptoms of Covid-19 (a high temperature, a new or continuous cough or a change/loss in your normal sense of taste or smell) and stay at home until you get your result. A mobile testing unit will be near Canary Wharf on 6, 9, 12 and 15 September.
- Stay at home if you test positive for Covid-19 or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive and been asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace.
- Support to self-isolate is available from the council.
